Oscilloscope Display of 0.006" thickness through "ViewPort"

Oscilloscope traces from "ViewPort"
ViewPort
Unique to the Nova 930 & 950 Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge. "ViewPort" is an optional connector for the 930, located on the bottom of the ultrasonic thickness gauge permitting the user to connect the gauge to an oscilloscope. The user can then view the RF Video, Measurement Gate and Measurement Time. With this ability the user can then use the features in the Modify Menu to change and save desired parameters to suit a particular test applications. Several companies such as Northrop and United Airlines are already benefiting from the unique ability afforded by ViewPort.
Introducing The Nova 930...
An Advanced, Handheld,
Precision Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge.
Another Industry First... The all new Nova 930 Precision Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge combines the best of 2 worlds, offering the user simple plug and play operation or the ability to change virtually any instrument operational parameter to suit a particular application.
Plug & Play: By selecting any Nova Series Ultrasonic Transducer the user simply plugs the transducer into the gage and using our Patented probe recognition circuit, the gage sets up in an optimal fashion supporting most inspection requirements. Simply use the Up & Down arrow keys to calibrate for the material under test. What could be easier?
User Defined Setups: For certain applications a standard setup may not be optimal. You me be using a thicker more attenuative part and not require 0.005" low end thickness. In this case you can elect to raise the gain or turn off the Automatic Gain while adjusting the IF or IP blocking gate. or any number of other parameters to attain the perfect solution. Companies such as Northrop and United Airlines have already benefited from the ability to select or modify settings. As an additional benefit, if required, NDT Systems can design a custom transducer solution for your application and provide program parameters to the user to input and Save via keypad input. No other handheld available today allows for this level of customization.
ViewPort: A Hand Held First - See Below...

In addition to the significant user setup abilities listed above the 930 also offers a host of other features simply not found on competitive units.
SPEED. The Nova 930 Precision Ultrasonic Thickness Gage has an alarm and B-Scan acquisition response of 500Hz!! That's with the display in the Live Mode!! No need to put the gage into a "Min Capture" mode to scan at a pitiful 32Hz and hope the gage shows you the real low reading. Did you know that most thickness gages available today have an update rate of ONLY 2 to 4 Hz?? A higher speed allows you to speed the inspection process with a quick snappy display and acquisition rates unheard of in a handheld.
Scrolling B Scan: An Industry First, originally introduced in the Nova TG110. Customers liked this feature so much we carried the concept to the TG930 EXCEPT, acquisition rate is 500Hz!! Once you start using this feature you will wonder why it hasn't been done before. This is a feature others are just picking up on. We suppose they thought it was a good idea too !!
Scan Bar: An Industry First, Originally introduced in the Nova TG110 Ultrasonic Thickness Gage. This is a feature at the bottom of the screen representing an analog view of the current thickness as a bar at the bottom of the screen. The scale of this bar can be set to the minimum and maximum range expected in thickness (for example 0.010 to 0.300). This makes changes in thickness very obvious.
Why did we do this? The human mind does not do well with a series of 7 segment numerals changing frequently and then drawing trend information. The mind does quite will with graphic trend data. For this reason Our Scan Bar and Scrolling B-Scan are very useful tools in reducing the fatigue that can come from interpreting changing values. Also, you will note that the digits themselves are rounded edges where possible. This adds to the ease of view and change of digit formation. 7 segment displays are somewhat more difficult to comprehend on a random basis due to their fixed position.
50,000 Point Data Logger: Offers the user the ability to create as many log files as will fit within 50,000 points. Also, the log files can be named in an alpha numeric format for easy recognition of the log specifics. The log can be created in either a "Grid" (spreadsheet format) or a linear series. These files can then be downloaded to a PC at a later date.
Prompt For Thickness: Have a system where you want to log thickness information directly to a PC or other external device? Simply send the TG930 an ASCII '?' and the current thickness will be returned.
Other Features include High & Low Alarm Limits, "Live" Minimum Thickness Capture, Differential Measurement, Fully Adjustable Velocity, Auto Zero or 2 Point Calibration and more..
